Description

Calcium borogluconate and magnesium hypophosphite are soluble salts of calcium and magnesium respectively and used extensively in fluid infusions for correction of metabolic disturbances. On parenteral administration they rapidly increase plasma concentrations of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. This is effective in the treatment of hypocalcaemia with associated magnesium and phosphorus deficiencies.

Indications

Indicated in the treatment of hypocalcaemia in cattle where increased blood magnesium levels are required.

Contra indications

No contra-indications have been identified for Calmasol-450P or any of its constituents.

Side effects

Rapid intravenous injection may result in cardiac arrythmias and in severely toxaemic cows, collapse and death.

Dosage

Once administer via subcutaneous or slow intravenous injection. For subcutaneous injection: massage site gently after administration.

Withdrawal times

- Cattle:             
Meat and offal :  5 days.
Milk                  :  1 day.

 - Swine:             
Meat and offal :  3 days.
