  • Ampicillin (as ampicillin sodium)
    75 mg.

Description

The combination of Ampicillin and Cloxacillin acts additive. Ampicillin possesses antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Cloxacillin is active against Penicillin G resistant staphylococci. Both beta-lactam antibiotics bind to membrane bound proteins known as penicillin-binding proteins (PBP’s) and are bactericidal.

Indications

Treatment of clinical bovine mastitis in the lactating cow caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including: Streptococcal spp., like Streptococcus agalactiae and Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Staphylococcus spp., Arcanobacterium pyogenes and E. coli.

Contra indications

Not to be used in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredients.

Dosage

For intramammary administration:

1 injector per affected quarter, immediately after milking at 12-hour intervals for three consecutive milkings.

 

Before application teats have to be cleaned and disinfected.

Withdrawal times

- For meat : 7 days.

- For milk : 72 hours.
