Vitamin A is involved in the formation and protection of epithelial tissues and mucous membranes and is important for reproduction, growth and immune response. Furthermore, vitamin A promotes healing and serves as an antioxidant to prevent free radical induced tissue damage and is essential for vision. B vitamins are essential for the proper operation of several physiological functions and are important for carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism. Vitamin C is required for collagen formation and tissue repair. Vitamin C plays an important role in various oxidation-reduction mechanisms in living cells and is involved in hydroxylation. Furthermore, vitamin C stimulates the immune system and serves as an antioxidant in conjunction with vitamin E. Vitamin D3 regulates calcium and phosphorus metabolism and its absorption from the intestine.
