Composition
- Homidium chloride – 250 mg.
Description
Homidium chloride is phenanthridine-based compound with antiprotozoal properties and therapeutic activity against trypanosomiasis.
Indications
Promidium is indicated for the curative treatment of trypanosomiasis in cattle due to T. congolense and T. vivax.
Contra indications
Administration to animals with known hypersensitivity to homidium.
Administration to animals with an impaired renal and/or hepatic function.
Administration via subcutaneous or intravenous injection.
Side effects
Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported.Transient local swellings may occur at the site of injection.
Transient lameness can occur.
Avoid direct skin contact with the tablet or the therapeutic solution. Wear protective gloves and clothing to avoid staining.
Divide the volume to be injected over two or more separate sites in case of emaciated and/or debilitated animals, and avoid underdosing by a careful estimation of the target animal’s body weight.

Dosage
For deep intramuscular administration.
Dissolve one tablet in 10 ml of sterile water to obtain a 2.5% solution (25 mg/ml), and dose at 1 ml per 25 kg of body weight (1 mg/kg; 1 tablet per animal weighing 250 kg).
Withdrawal times
- For meat: 30 days.
- For milk: 0 days.
