Beschreibung
Doxycycline belongs to the group of tetracyclines and has bacteriostatic against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, like Bordetella spp., Campylobacter spp., E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp. Doxycycline is also active against Chlamydia spp., Mycoplasma spp. and Rickettsia spp. The action of doxycycline is based on inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis. Doxycycline has a great affinity to the lungs and is therefore especially useful for treatment of bacterial respiratory infections.
Indikationen
Gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by doxycycline-sensitive microorganisms, like Bordetella, Campylobacter spp., Chlamydia spp., E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Mycoplasma spp., Pasteurella spp., Rickettsia spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp. in calves, sheep, goats, pigs and poultry.Gegenanzeigen
Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines.
Administration to animals with a seriously impaired hepatic function.
Concurrent administration of penicillins, cephalosporins, quinolones and cycloserine.
Administration to animals with an active microbial digestion.
Nebenwirkungen
Discolouration of teeth in young animals may occur.
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
Dosierung
For oral administration.Calves, sheep and goats:
Twice daily, 1 g per 100 kg body weight for 3 - 5 days.
Pigs and poultry:
1 kg per 5000 - 10000 litres of drinking water for 3 - 5 days.
Note: for pre-ruminant calves, lambs and kids only.
Wartezeiten
- For meat:
Calves: 7 days.
Sheep and goats: 14 days.
Pigs: 8 days.
Poultry: 7 days.
Not for use in poultry producing eggs for human consumption.
