Sulfadimidine usually has bactericidal action against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, like Corynebacterium spp., E. coli, Eimeria spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp. and Streptococcus spp. Sulfadimidine affects bacterial purine synthesis, as a result of which a blockade is accomplished.
