Tiasan

Tiamulin 10% injection

  • Composition
  • Tiamulin base – 100 mg.

Description

Tiasan -100 is a semisynthetic derivative of the naturally occurring diterpene antibiotic pleuromutilin with bacteriostatic action against Gram-positive bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Arcanobacterium pyogenes), Mycoplasma spp., spirochetes (Brachyspira hyodysenteriae, B. pilosicoli) and some Gram-negative bacilli such as Pasteurella spp., Bacteroides spp., Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Lawsonia intracellularis.
Tiasan-100 distributes widely in tissues, including the colon and the lungs, and acts by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.

Indications

Tiasan-100 is indicated for gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by tiamulin-sensitive microorganisms, including porcine dysentery caused by Brachyspira spp. and complicated by Fusobacterium spp. and Bacteroides spp., enzootic pneumonia complex of pigs and mycoplasmal arthritis in pigs.
