It also acts to provide support during stressful situations (caused, for instance, by vaccination, diseases, transport, high humidity, high temperatures or extreme temperature changes). Ascorbic acid is a strong aqueous antioxidant and acts as a cofactor for many enzymes. It is one of the strongest reductants and radical scavengers, acting as a primary defense against aqueous radicals in the blood.
