Description
Oxytetracycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic which inhibits protein synthesis in susceptible micro-organisms. It impairs the peptide elongation function of the ribosomes by binding to one of its binding sites, thereby preventing new amino acids from being incorporated into peptides. As a consequence, further growth and cell division in the microorganisms are suspended.
The spectrum of activity includes a large number of gram positive and gram negative bacteria (both aerobe and anaerobe), as well as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacteroides spp. and Fusobacterium spp.

Indications
Limoxin Spray is indicated for the treatment of skin and hoof infections in cattle, sheep and pigs, caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive microorganisms like Staphylococcus aureus, Bacteroides spp. and Fusobacterium spp.Contraindications
Do not use in animals with a known hypersensitivity to oxytetracycline or any of the excipients.
Side Effects
No undesirable effects are to be expected when the prescribed dosage regimen is followed.

Use product in a well-ventilated area, avoid inhalation, wash hands after use.
Do not spray towards or close to the eyes.
Protect from direct sunlight and do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50 °C.
Do not pierce or burn before or after use.
Dosage
Skin lesions should be cleaned prior to application. Infected hooves have to be cleaned and pared before application. Shake the can before use and spray at a distance of 10 - 15 cm for a few seconds until the lesion is sufficiently covered.After treating hooves keep animals on dry ground for one hour. In cases of chronic hoof infection, repeat treatment after 10 days.
